The man accused of stabbing Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan would not have gotten far if he had tried his stunt at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The AI engines at the event would have predicted his next move, and drones would have apprehended him before he could even think about using his UPI app. The Maha Kumbh is not just a religious event; it is a showcase of India’s ability to blend ancient traditions with modern technology.

The Maha Kumbh is equipped with 2,750 CCTV cameras, 328 of which are AI-enabled, constantly analyzing crowd behavior and helping manage the flow of 40 crore pilgrims. Drones hover over the crowd and dive underwater at the Triveni Sangam, scanning the riverbed for safety. A chatbot called Kumbh Sah’AI’yak helps lost pilgrims find their way and provides information in 11 languages.

QR codes replace paper passes, making entry passes and vehicle permits digital and efficient. AI-powered computerized centers reunite lost family members quickly, while geographic information systems and Google Maps help navigate the mela ground. Health systems powered by AI monitor sanitation and offer medical assessments for pilgrims.

The Kumbh also offers virtual reality experiences for those unable to attend in person. It has embraced blockchain technology with non-fungible tokens for crypto-savvy individuals. The event’s blend of tradition and technology shows that faith can move mountains and gigabytes alike.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 is a testament to India’s innovation and cultural richness, demonstrating how technology can enhance spiritual experiences and facilitate the smooth operation of massive events. The event is a harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation, showcasing the best of both worlds.
