The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reported an expenditure of ₹1,754 crore on election and promotional activities during the financial year 2023-24, marking a 60 per cent increase from the previous year. The audit report indicates that in 2022-23, these expenses amounted to ₹1,092 crore.

As per the report, the party has disclosed spending of ₹591.39 crore on advertisements and publicity, up from ₹432 crore allocated for advertisements in FY 2022-23.

This information was included in the annual audit report of the BJP, which was published by the Election Commission of India on its website.

In total, the BJP has reported expenditures of ₹2,211 crore for FY 2023-24, which is a 62 per cent rise compared to ₹1,361 crore spent in FY 2022-23. This includes administrative costs of ₹349 crore and employee expenses of ₹73 crore for the same fiscal year.

The figures in the audit report reflect the party’s income up to March 31, 2024. The General Elections for Lok Sabha in 2024 were conducted in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with results declared on June 4. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured victory, allowing Narendra Modi to assume the role of Prime Minister for an unprecedented third term.

During FY 2023-24, the BJP garnered an income of ₹4,340 crore from various sources, a significant increase from the ₹2,360 crore it earned in FY 2022-23, as highlighted by the party’s annual audit report.

The party reported spending ₹173 crore on aircraft and helicopters, along with ₹19 crore on additional travel expenses during FY 2023-24.

This financial support for candidates illustrates the party’s dedication to achieving electoral success.

The BJP extended financial assistance totaling ₹191 crore to candidates, in addition to incurring ₹84 crore on meetings in FY 2023-24, according to the audit report.
