Tata Motors has unveiled the Sierra ICE concept SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. This modern interpretation of the famous Sierra nameplate features a design tailored for internal combustion engines (ICE), while retaining the iconic styling elements of the original Sierra.

The SUV is poised to compete in the compact SUV market against well-known models such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. Tata Motors is expected to launch the Sierra ICE later this year, although a specific timeline has not been confirmed.

Design: A Tribute to the Original Sierra

  • The Sierra ICE concept shares similarities with the previously revealed Sierra E but distinguishes itself with a design specific to the ICE variant.
  • The front features an upright stance, a pronounced LED light bar, and sleek headlights.
  • The grille and front bumper showcase a black and silver finish, while the signature rectangular side windows, flush door handles, and dual-tone alloy wheels pay homage to the original model.
  • The rear design maintains a vertical profile, complemented by a sleek LED light strip and a sturdy rear bumper.

Interior: A Modern and Tech-Savvy Cabin

  • The interior of the Sierra ICE concept showcases a dual-tone color scheme and a layout influenced by other Tata models such as the Harrier and Safari.
  • Notable features include a dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system paired with a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver.
  • Additional comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, powered and ventilated front seats, connected car technologies, and both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
  • Ambient lighting further elevates the cabin’s atmosphere.

Safety Features: Cutting-Edge Technology for Secure Driving

The Sierra ICE is equipped with a variety of advanced safety technologies, including six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, and a driver attention warning system. It also features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance safety and provide a smoother driving experience.

Powertrain: Options for Turbo Petrol and Diesel Engines

  • The Sierra ICE concept is expected to offer two powertrain options:
    • A 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 170 PS and 280 Nm of torque
    • A 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 170 PS and 350 Nm, similar to the engines used in the Tata Harrier and Safari.
    • Potential transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Rivals: Competing in the Compact SUV Segment

The Sierra ICE is set to rival several well-established models in the compact SUV space, including:

  • Hyundai Creta
  • Kia Seltos
  • Volkswagen Taigun
  • Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
  • Toyota Hyryder
  • Citroen Basalt
  • MG Astor
  • Honda Elevate
