The outlook for Indian equities in 2025 appears to be positive, with the potential for recovery and growth despite recent challenges. Political stability following state elections and expected fiscal support are boosting confidence in the market. The growth prospects for the upcoming quarters are promising, with FY26 expected to outperform FY25 driven by various factors such as fiscal tailwinds, private capex revival, and easing credit conditions post-CRR cuts.

Valuations have normalized after a recent correction, with large caps offering defensive stability and mid and small caps remaining attractive in selective sectors due to higher earnings growth potential. While India’s equity risk premium remains appealing compared to global peers, the current P/E ratio of the Nifty 50 is above its 10-year average.

Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) flows have been under pressure due to various factors, but the improving growth outlook and political stability in India are expected to attract FPI inflows in 2025. FPIs are likely to favor sectors such as financials, capital goods, and technology driven by strong earnings visibility and specific sector catalysts.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is expected to ease interest rates from April if inflation stabilizes and credit growth continues to recover. Recent measures such as the CRR cut have supported financial normalization, but risks to food inflation and trade barriers may impact the timing and pace of rate cuts.

Earnings growth in India has been subdued in the first half of FY25 due to various factors, but momentum is expected to improve in the coming quarters supported by rural recovery, infrastructure spending, and industrial capacity utilization. Double-digit earnings growth over the next 2-3 years is anticipated, driven by stable economic conditions and structural growth in key sectors such as industrials, financials, and real estate.

The broking industry in India has faced challenges due to increased regulations, with SEBI implementing stricter norms on F&O trading and revenue streams being impacted. Despite these challenges, market participation continues to grow with retail investors playing a key role in driving market turnover.

As a broker, Axis Securities is focusing on tech-driven solutions to meet investor and trader needs. They have launched various platforms and apps to cater to the different requirements of traders and investors. The company is also planning to expand its presence in tier 2 and tier 3 towns to tap into emerging markets.

In conclusion, the Indian equity market outlook for 2025 seems positive, with potential for recovery and growth driven by various factors such as political stability, fiscal support, and easing credit conditions. Investors need to keep an eye on key factors such as FPI flows, interest rate decisions, earnings growth, and regulatory changes to make informed investment decisions in the Indian market.
