In a remarkable transformation of education, a school located in Hiwali village, within the Trimbakeshwar taluka of Nashik, is making headlines for its innovative teaching methods and impressive student achievements. The local zilla parishad school is not just focusing on traditional academic subjects; instead, it combines rigorous classroom instruction with practical skills such as welding, electrical work, and organic farming, embodying a well-rounded educational approach.

This extraordinary progress is attributed to Keshav Gavit, a dedicated educator whose commitment to fostering a love for learning has resulted in outstanding academic performances among the students. Education Minister Dada Bhuse, who recently visited the school, was struck by the enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge displayed by the children. He noted that many students exhibited remarkable abilities, including ambidextrous writing, showcasing the positive impact of a quality education.

The school’s journey began in 2009 when it served only nine students in a community with limited access to education. Faced with significant challenges and a lack of basic amenities, Gavit and his team took initiative, conducting home visits and focusing on foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. By 2014, their efforts began to bear fruit, and the school started to thrive.

Minister Bhuse expressed admiration for the school’s inclusive educational model, highlighting its emphasis on English language skills, general knowledge, and the arts. The cultivation of organic vegetables by students further illustrates a commitment to practical and environmentally conscious education.

As Hiwali’s zilla parishad school stands out as a beacon of educational excellence, plans are in motion to present its model as a potential framework for other schools across Maharashtra.
