Kia has unveiled its new compact SUV, the Kia Syros, as it broadens its portfolio in the sub-4 meter segment following the Sonet. The Syros showcases a design language akin to Kia’s electric vehicle range, particularly the EV9. This SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, with an all-electric variant expected to be introduced in the future. Here are some key details about the Kia Syros.

Kia Syros Price and Availability in India

Bookings for the Kia Syros will commence on January 3, with the official pricing announcement set for February.

Kia Syros Design

The design of the Syros is influenced by global Kia EVs like the EV9 and EV3, featuring a boxy, upright front-end design with vertically stacked headlamps positioned at the outer edges of the bumper. It showcases three LED projector light units along with distinctive LED daytime running lights. The upper section of the front fascia is sealed, featuring air intakes below in a blacked-out area, accentuated by contrasting silver trim.

Its tallboy design is clearly visible, with blacked-out A-, C-, and D-pillars complemented by body-colored B-pillars, creating a window line reminiscent of the Skoda Yeti. Additional design features include plastic cladding around the wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, a unique kink in the rear window line, and alloy wheels in a three-petal design, measuring up to 17 inches on the top variant. The rear of the vehicle is equipped with high-mounted L-shaped tail-lights that frame the rear windscreen and a two-tone finish for the rear bumper.

Kia Syros Dimensions and Color Options

The Syros measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,665 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. Compared to the Sonet, it is 10 mm wider, 55 mm taller, and features a wheelbase that is 50 mm longer. The boot space is rated at 465 liters, an increase from the Sonet’s 385 liters.

Eight color options are available: Frost Blue, Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Intense Red, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Sparkling Silver, and Glacier White Pearl.

Kia Syros Interior and Features

The interior boasts a fresh dashboard design that incorporates dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster, alongside a 5-inch screen for climate control, leading to a total display area of 30 inches. The two-spoke steering wheel, inspired by the EV3, is accompanied by a center console fitted with a wireless charging pad. The dashboard design also includes physical switches for HVAC controls, concealed air vents, and ambient lighting.

Noteworthy features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, over-the-air updates for the infotainment system, in-car connectivity technology, ventilated seats for all passengers, reclining and sliding second-row seats with a center armrest, a 60:40 split-folding function, a powered driver’s seat, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite.

Kia Syros Engine and Gearbox Specifications

The Syros offers a choice between two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 120 hp and 172 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 116 hp and 250 Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Higher-spec automatic variants come with paddle shifters. The Syros is among the select sub-4-metre SUVs to provide a diesel engine option.

Kia Syros Variants

The Kia Syros will be offered in four trims: HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+(O). Specific features associated with each variant are yet to be disclosed, though the top-spec HTX+(O) is anticipated to come equipped with the full suite of features highlighted above.
