The women’s T20 World Cup is set to have a new champion as New Zealand emerged victorious over West Indies in the second semifinal of the 2024 tournament. The White Ferns secured a narrow eight-run win to book their spot in the final against South Africa. It was a thrilling contest at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, with both teams giving their all for a chance to reach the finale.

In a tense finish, with Windies needing 34 runs from the final 24 balls, Deandra Dottin’s aggressive batting almost turned the tide in their favor. However, a crucial wicket by Amelia Kerr and some composed bowling by New Zealand in the final overs sealed the victory for the White Ferns. This will be only the third time that New Zealand will feature in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup, having fallen short in their previous appearances.

The final showdown between New Zealand and South Africa promises to be a thrilling encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both teams are yet to win a World Cup title, with South Africa finishing as runners-up in the previous edition. With a new champion guaranteed, the stage is set for an exciting finale in Dubai.

Despite a slow pitch, New Zealand managed to post a competitive total of 128 in their innings. While they might have felt they were slightly short of a par score, their bowlers did a commendable job in defending it. Deandra Dottin was the standout performer for West Indies, claiming four wickets, but it was not enough to secure victory for her team.

The final on Sunday will see both sides fielding their best XI in a bid to lift the coveted trophy. It’s a historic moment for women’s cricket as a new champion will be crowned in Dubai. Let’s wait and see who emerges victorious in this exciting clash.
