Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin made an announcement on Friday regarding a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for State Government employees. This decision is expected to result in an additional expenditure of Rs.1,931 crore for the State Exchequer. The DA for government officials and teachers will be raised from 50% to 53% effective from July 1.

Approximately 16 lakh government officials, pensioners, and family pensioners will benefit from this decision. The State government has assured that additional funds will be allocated to ensure the well-being of teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners.

It is worth noting that the Central Government recently also increased the DA for its employees from 50% to 53% starting from July 1.
