In the 90s, Indian actors began demanding fees of more than one crore from producers for their films. Over time, this fee has only increased, with stars now earning through various avenues such as advertisements, endorsements, and side businesses. This rapid accumulation of wealth has placed India’s richest actress among the top 10 wealthiest actresses globally, even surpassing many Indian actors to secure the second spot in India’s list of richest actors.

Topping the list of India’s wealthiest actresses is Juhi Chawla, with a staggering wealth of ₹4600 crores ($580 million) according to the Hurun Rich List 2024. She trails only her close friend Shah Rukh Khan, who holds the top position in the list of richest actors in India. In fact, the combined wealth of the next five richest Indian actresses falls short of Juhi’s individual wealth.

Following Juhi is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in second place, with a net worth exceeding $100 million (around ₹850 crores), while Priyanka Chopra Jonas secures the third spot with a wealth of Rs 650 crore, earned through her brand, film production company, and Hollywood ventures. Rounding up the top five are Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, both successful entrepreneurs with numerous global brand endorsements.

Despite her roots in cinema, Juhi Chawla’s wealth is primarily derived from her strategic business ventures. Although her last box office hit dates back to 2009 with ‘Luck By Chance’, she has invested wisely in the Red Chillies Group, co-owns a cricket team (KKR), possesses a diverse real estate portfolio, and has engaged in various joint business ventures with her husband, millionaire businessman Jay Mehta.
