Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tribal Welfare, Peedika Rajanna Dora, stated that the genuine development in the Parvathipuram Manyam and Vizianagaram districts is primarily attributed to the initiatives of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing these backward districts.

Rajanna Dora announced that the foundation stone for the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh would be laid by Chief Minister Jagan on August 25 in Chinamedapalli village, Mentada mandal, Vizianagaram district. He, along with Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana, is overseeing the arrangements for the public meeting scheduled at the same location.

In an interview with The Hindu, Rajanna Dora highlighted that the establishment of the new university aims to help tribal students achieve their aspirations for higher education and research in areas related to their culture, traditions, and food practices. He anticipates significant enrollment from local communities, noting that the university is expected to be operational within a few years, thanks to full funding from the Union government as part of the assurances in the AP Reorganisation Act of 2014.

The Deputy Chief Minister remarked that the state government has acquired approximately 560 acres of land, overcoming various challenges. He assured that full support would be provided for constructing two access roads from the towns of Saluru and Gajapathinagaram. Rajanna Dora also indicated that the Chief Minister might announce additional initiatives during the public meeting scheduled for Friday morning.
