Kolkata: Sri Lanka international Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of IPL 2026, according to Tom Moody, the Global Director of Cricket for the Lucknow Super Giants. Moody confirmed the news during the team’s match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, stating that the franchise is in the process of securing a replacement, with an announcement expected in the coming days.
“We are sort of preparing for him not being available for us. So, we are in the process of finalising a replacement that will be announced in the next 24-48 hours,” Moody said during his commentary.
In addition to Hasaranga’s situation, Moody provided an update on left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, who had previously missed the entire IPL 2025 season due to injury. After being cleared for the current season, Mohsin showcased his potential in Lucknow’s opening match, taking one wicket for just 19 runs in four overs. However, he has since been sidelined due to another injury.
“Mohsin had a bit of stiffness after the first game. We didn’t want to push him, so hopefully he should be back sooner rather than later,” Moody commented.
Further updates are anticipated.
