India will face West Indies in a two-match Test series starting at home, marking an anticipated contest despite the West Indies’ recent struggles against Australia. This series is particularly notable as it is the first home Test assignment for India under the leadership of Shubman Gill. Additionally, it follows the 0-3 home defeat to New Zealand last year, making it a critical opportunity for the Indian team to rebound. With players like Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Axar Patel included, the selection of the final playing eleven will be closely observed.

For the West Indies, this series offers a chance to test their skills against a top team in unfamiliar conditions. They aim to challenge the Indian side and secure competitive results. Notably, the team has selected bowlers capable of performing in spin-friendly conditions, such as Khary Pierre, and batsmen skilled in facing spin, including Alick Athanaze.

The pitch may present a slight green tinge, but with the festive season coinciding with the beginning of the new Test season, anticipation runs high.
