Delhi elections 2025: As initial trends indicated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would surpass the majority threshold in the results of the Delhi assembly elections, BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva announced that a double-engine government would be established in the national capital under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), implying that dishonesty towards the public leads to adverse outcomes.

“If you are untruthful with the citizens, then the citizens will respond with a similar result. Under PM Modi’s leadership, a double-engine government will come to fruition in Delhi,” stated Sachdeva.

According to early trends from the Election Commission, the Bharatiya Janata Party has surpassed the majority mark in the Delhi assembly election results. Supporters of the BJP were seen celebrating the party’s success.

The BJP is currently leading in 41 seats while the AAP is ahead in 28 seats.

The majority requirement to form the government in the national capital is 36.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is falling behind in the New Delhi seat by a margin of 430 votes.

AAP candidate and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj is lagging behind BJP’s Shikha Roy in the Greater Kailash seat by 2,583 votes.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is trailing BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji with a vote margin of 1,342 votes.

The BJP is also ahead in the Okhla seat, which is regarded as a stronghold for AAP’s Amanatullah Khan, by a vote margin of 1,734.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai is currently leading from the Babarpur seat by 5,602 votes, while Imran Hussain is in the lead from the Ballimaran seat by 1,824 votes.

Satyendra Jain is falling behind BJP’s Karnail Singh from the Shakur Basti seat by 8,072 votes.

Former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot, who recently joined the BJP, has established a significant lead of 2,714 votes in the Bijwasan seat.

Voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly took place on February 5, with an overall voter turnout of 60.54 percent.

The AAP is striving for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is exerting maximum effort to regain power after more than twenty years in the national capital.

Most exit polls released on Wednesday suggested that the BJP had an advantage over the AAP. However, AAP officials indicated that exit polls have historically undervalued the party’s performance. They expressed optimism about returning to power.
