New Delhi: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli shared his final Instagram post of 2025 featuring a photo with his wife, Anushka Sharma, just hours before the new year. Currently, Kohli is in Dubai during a break in his participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26, having played in two matches of the domestic 50-over tournament. He is anticipated to feature in another match soon.
As 2026 approaches, Kohli expressed his sentiments in a caption accompanying the photo: “Stepping into 2026 with the light of my life, Anushka Sharma.”
Kohli concludes 2025 as the second-ranked ODI batter
At the year’s end, Kohli ranked as the second-best batter in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), exhibiting strong performance recently. He achieved four consecutive innings scoring fifty or more runs, which included two consecutive centuries against South Africa. His performance has drawn parallels to earlier stages of his career, placing him just behind Rohit Sharma in the ICC rankings, with Kohli holding 773 points—eight points less than Rohit.
Kohli set to participate in another VHT match
In related news, Kohli is poised to play for Delhi in their upcoming match against Railways. Rohan Jaitley, President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), informed the Press Trust of India that “as of now, he is playing. Virat has given his availability for three games.” Kohli has already completed the requisite two matches mandated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for current players in the 50-over tournament.
Indian team to convene in Vadodara by January 8; Kohli may arrive later
India’s national team is scheduled to engage in a three-match ODI series along with a five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home, commencing with the One-Dayers on January 11. The announcement of the squad for these matches is expected on January 3 or 4. Although the selected players are to assemble in Vadodara by January 8, Kohli may arrive a day later to join training. The first ODI is slated to occur at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi.
