On the auspicious occasion of Vijay Dashami, Bollywood movies often portray the essence of Dussehra by depicting the victory of good over evil. Several Hindi films have drawn inspiration from the Ramayana’s Raavan character, showcasing the battle between righteousness and malevolence on the silver screen.

One such film is “Ra.One,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, where Arjun Rampal plays the role of the antagonist, Ra.One, reminiscent of Raavan. The film’s storyline delves into the clash between the protagonist and the villain, echoing the epic tale of Dussehra.

“Kahaani,” featuring Vidya Balan in the lead role, beautifully captures the theme of triumph over evil. In a symbolic act on Dussehra, Vidya’s character seeks justice for her husband’s killer, embodying the spirit of righteousness prevailing over wickedness.

“Prem Granth,” with Madhuri Dixit, Shammi Kapoor, and Rishi Kapoor in pivotal roles, addresses the sensitive issue of rape. The climax scene portrays Madhuri’s character, Kajri, avenging her perpetrator by tying him to a Ravan effigy and setting it ablaze, symbolizing retribution and justice.

Similarly, “Delhi 6,” starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, intertwines its narrative with the essence of Dussehra, weaving the festival’s symbolism into the characters’ journeys. Released in 2009, the film resonates with the spirit of the victory of good over evil.

In the 2019 release “Kalank,” Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s characters are seen in a song titled ‘Gore More Pardesiya,’ set against the backdrop of a Ravan effigy burning. The scene encapsulates the festive fervor of Dussehra, adding a touch of tradition and symbolism to the film’s narrative.

These films not only entertain but also serve as a reminder of the timeless significance of Dussehra, celebrating the triumph of righteousness and the defeat of evil. Through their cinematic storytelling, they pay homage to the revered festival, enriching the audience’s cinematic experience with cultural depth and symbolism.
