New Delhi: India U19 continued their ODI series against South Africa with the second match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, on January 5. South Africa batted first, amassing a total of 245 runs in their innings.
India’s captain, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, made headlines by leading the charge in the run chase. Opening the innings, Suryavanshi scored 68 runs off just 24 balls, hitting 10 sixes and one four. His aggressive start provided India U19 with a solid foundation, although Aaron George, who partnered with him at the top, was dismissed for 20 runs early in the chase.
In the first innings, South Africa U19 initially struggled, with Jorich Van Schalkwyk and Adnaan Lagadien contributing 10 and 25 runs respectively. The South African captain, Muhammed Bulbulia, also fell early, scoring only 14 runs. Jason Rowles, however, steadied the innings with an impressive knock of 114 runs off 113 deliveries. Daniel Bosman supported with 31 runs in 63 balls, helping South Africa reach a competitive total of 245.
Kishan Singh played a crucial role in limiting South Africa’s scoring, taking four wickets for 46 runs in 8.3 overs. RS Ambrish contributed with two wickets, and Deepesh Devendran, Kanishk Chouhan, and Khilan Patel each took one wicket, further bolstering India’s bowling performance.
