Dubai: During the U19 Asia Cup final at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai on December 21, opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi lost his composure while facing Pakistan. Chasing a daunting target of 348 runs, the 14-year-old scored 26 runs off just 10 balls before being dismissed by Ali Raza, leading to a notable incident that circulated widely on social media.
Following his dismissal, Raza celebrated in an intense manner, making eye contact with Suryavanshi. In retaliation, the Indian opener pointed at his shoe while addressing Raza before departing the field, which sparked discussions online regarding the nature of the gesture.
In the match, India struggled significantly while chasing the substantial total. The team suffered frequent losses, losing five wickets for just 68 runs at one point. Despite some attempts to stabilize the innings, wickets continued to fall consistently, leading India to be bowled out for 156 runs, resulting in a heavy defeat by 191 runs.
Raza was instrumental for Pakistan, claiming four wickets, while teammates Mohammad Sayyam, Abdul Subhan, and Huzaifa Ahsan each took two wickets. For India, Deepesh Devendran emerged as the highest run-scorer, contributing 36 runs off 16 balls before Raza dismissed him on the final delivery of the match.
