Tamilaga Vettri Kazhgam (TVK) leader Vijay has resumed his campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections after a nearly two-month break, launching pointed criticisms against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He accused the DMK of engaging in what he described as “loot” and hinted at allegations of dynasty politics within the party.
Vijay challenged the DMK’s questioning of the TVK’s ideological foundations, asserting that his party is built on robust principles, specifically the principle of equality. He noted that the TVK has made demands for a caste census among other positions, including opposition to the Waqf Act and an active approach in the Supreme Court regarding these issues. He cited the party’s strong resistance to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as part of its ideological framework.
Speaking to party cadres and supporters at an event in Sunguvarchattiram, Kanchipuram district, Vijay criticized the DMK’s understanding of ideology, saying, “The DMK now asks, ‘What is the price of ideology?’ They question us about our ideology… We have strongly opposed the CAA as well.” He added that the DMK is characterized by corruption, stating, “The whole state is watching a DMK that behaves like a 75-year-old child.”
Vijay emphasized that the TVK does not make “empty claims” such as those made by the DMK regarding the abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Instead, he highlighted the TVK’s demand to transfer education responsibilities from the concurrent list to the state list of the Constitution.
This event marked Vijay’s first address to party workers and the public since the tragic stampede in Karur on September 27, signaling the official resumption of his campaign ahead of the upcoming state elections.
