Five Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza City on Wednesday, even in the presence of a ceasefire.

The Israeli army confirmed the fatalities, stating that the individuals were approaching their soldiers when they were targeted. According to Al Jazeera, an unspecified number of Palestinians were also wounded by Israeli gunfire in the Halawa area of Jabalia, as reported by a source from the Gaza Emergency Services.

The Israeli military issued a statement indicating that its forces had opened fire on a group of Palestinians approaching troops stationed along the redeployment line. Incidents occurred in both Khan Younis and the Shujaiya neighborhood. Many Palestinians reportedly took advantage of the ceasefire to return to their homes and assess the widespread destruction. The scale of devastation has created vast, open areas visible to Israeli ground forces. Continuous gunfire can still be heard, as Israeli troops frequently open fire at any movement near their positions, particularly in eastern Gaza, as noted by Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum from Deir el-Balah.

The post detailing these events first appeared on Maktoob Media.
