Tragic Loss: 11-Person Palestinian Family Killed in Israeli Attack Amid Rising Death Toll

Eleven members of a single family were killed after Israeli occupation targeted a vehicle in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighbourhood, allegedly for crossing the so-called “yellow line,” an area demarcating zones under Israeli army control.

The strike brought the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces since the ceasefire took effect to 28.

“Most Palestinians do not know where the ‘yellow line’ is because they do not have access to the internet or phones, and this is why this tragedy happened to this family. It’s the Abu Shaban family, an 11-member family. They were returning to their home after being displaced multiple times, and just as they were about to settle, they were killed,” said Al Jazeera journalist Hind Khoudary.

“Among those killed were Palestinian children aged ten, six, five, and eight. Israeli forces have been very strict about the yellow line and have attacked several Palestinians since the beginning of the ceasefire. At least 28 Palestinians have been killed, all of them for reaching or crossing the yellow line,” she added.

Hamas has urged the United States and mediators to pressure Israel to respect the ceasefire agreement and halt its attacks, after returning another body of a deceased Israeli captive via the Red Cross.

The group also stated that it would continue searching for the remaining bodies and return them all.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Hamas must abide by the ceasefire deal and return the remains of the other 18 slain captives still in Gaza.
