Equity benchmark indices sustained bullish momentum during the mid-trading session on Wednesday, bolstered by optimism surrounding India-US trade discussions.

As of 12:35 PM, the indices were trading close to their daily peaks. The Sensex rose 702.46 points, or 0.84 percent, reaching 84,573.78, after reaching a high of 84,614.07 and compared to the previous close of 83,871.32. The Nifty 50 gained 214.60 points, or 0.84 percent, climbing to 25,909.55, near its daily high of 25,919.45.

Both midcap and smallcap indices advanced, increasing by 0.70 percent and 0.71 percent, respectively. On the sectoral front, all indices recorded positive movements, with IT, financial services, oil & gas, and media stocks each rising over 1 percent.

Adani Enterprises, Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, and ONGC were the top gainers on the Nifty 50, while Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, Tata Steel, Bharat Electronics, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles lagged behind. Major heavyweight stocks such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, and Reliance Industries also showed significant gains.

A total of 3,067 stocks were traded on the National Stock Exchange, with 1,990 stocks advancing, 979 declining, and 98 remaining unchanged, reflecting a positive market breadth. Notably, 72 stocks—including Adani Energy, Adani Ports, Ashok Leyland, Canara Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Titan Company—hit their 52-week highs, whereas 69 stocks, such as JSW Cement, ION Exchange, and SKF India, reached their 52-week lows. Additionally, 62 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, while 47 stocks reached their lower circuit limits.

In the midcap space, BSE shares were notable gainers, soaring over 6 percent following their Q2 results. Other advancing midcap stocks included Motilal Oswal Financial, IndusInd Bank, Tata Elxsi, Premier Energies, and Mphasis, all rising by 3-4 percent. Conversely, Torrent Power, Fortis, Mahindra & Mahindra Finance, Muthoot Finance, Prestige, and Nykaa experienced declines between 2-5 percent.

Among smallcap stocks, Tejas Networks, BLS International, GE Shipping, Aegis Logistics, and Gillette posted significant gains ranging from 3-8 percent, while Hindustan Copper, HBL Engineering, Ola Electric, Five Star, and Aptus saw declines of 2-5 percent.

On the BSE, Kirloskar Oil Engines and PGIL rallied between 12-15 percent, while Thermax, Hindustan Copper, and PI Industries faced declines of 5-7 percent.

Additionally, three stocks, including Groww, the demerged commercial vehicle division of Tata Motors, and Shreeji Global FMCG, made their debut today.

Investors are advised to monitor HAL, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Ashok Leyland, Prestige, Honasa, Nazara, IRCTC, Cochin Shipyard, Deepak Nitrite, Gabriel India, and additional Q2 results expected later today. For live updates, please stay tuned.
