New Zealand pulled off a remarkable Test series victory against India, securing a historic win in Pune. This victory marked the end of India’s unbeaten streak at home in Tests that lasted for over a decade. The Kiwis had already triumphed in the first Test in Bengaluru before sealing the series with a win in the second match.

India had not lost a Test series at home since 2012 when they were defeated by England. Their impressive run at home, which began in 2013, spanned over 18 series before being halted by New Zealand in 2024. Tom Latham, who had taken over the captaincy for the Test series, expressed his joy at the team’s accomplishment.

Latham praised the team effort and highlighted the contributions of Mitchell Santner, whose exceptional bowling performance played a pivotal role in the series win. He commended Santner for his dedication and performance, crediting him for his crucial role in the team’s success.

Reflecting on the challenging moments in the Test match, Latham acknowledged India’s strong comeback in the final session but lauded his team’s resilience in securing vital breakthroughs. New Zealand successfully adapted to the varying conditions of different pitches and executed their game plan effectively.

The Kiwis’ comprehensive victory in Pune set them up for a 2-0 series lead with one match remaining in Mumbai starting from November 1st. New Zealand’s outstanding performance against a formidable Indian side has solidified their reputation as a competitive Test team on the international stage.
