An examination of candidate selections from major parties in the Telangana state elections reveals that the Congress party nominated six Muslim candidates, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) fielded three, and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) presented eight Muslim contestants. Telangana has a total of 119 assembly seats. According to the 2011 Census, the Muslim population in the state accounted for 12.6%, the highest proportion among all states where counting occurred on December 3.
This report is based on data collected when approximately 65% of votes had been counted by 2:30 PM. Updates will follow as results continue to be tallied.

The following points summarise the performance of Muslim candidates from prominent parties in the 2023 elections:
- All Muslim candidates from the BRS and Congress were trailing as of 2:30 PM.
- Among the Muslim candidates from AIMIM, only M.D. Rashed Farazuddin from Jubilee Hills and Kausar Mohiuddin from Karwan were not leading in their races; all others were either winning or leading.
- In Bodhan, BRS candidate Mohammed Shakil Aamir was trailing behind Congress’s P. Sudharshan Reddy.
- In Nizamabad (urban), Congress’s Mohammed Ali Shabbir trailed behind BJP’s Dhanpal Suryanarayana.
- In Karwan, BJP candidate Amar Singh was leading over both Congress’s Osman Bin Mohammed Al Hajri and AIMIM’s Kausar Mohiuddin.
- In Jubilee Hills, BRS candidate Maganti Gopinath was leading against cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin, who was representing the Congress party.
