Suryakumar Yadav Announces Donation to Indian Army Following Asia Cup Win

New Delhi: Following India’s triumphant victory in the Asia Cup 2025, team captain Suryakumar Yadav took to social media to announce his decision to donate his entire match fees from the tournament to the Indian Army in support of their efforts during Operation Sindoor. Additionally, he pledged funds to assist the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

In a message on X, Suryakumar expressed his commitment to the armed forces and the affected families, stating, “I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind.”

This announcement is not a departure from Suryakumar’s previous gestures, as he has consistently stood with the families impacted by the Pahalgam incident and shown dedication to his country.

The Asia Cup final saw India defeat Pakistan, but the celebratory atmosphere was overshadowed by a controversial situation. The Indian team opted not to step onto the dais for the trophy presentation, as they did not wish to receive the award from PCB and ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi. Consequently, Naqvi left the ceremony with the trophy, leading to India’s celebration without the formal recognition.

Reflecting on the incident, Suryakumar remarked on the unusual nature of the team’s experience, saying, “I think this is one thing that I have never seen since I started playing cricket, that a champion team is denied to get a trophy. I mean that, too, a hard-earned one…I feel we deserved it and I can’t say anything more,” he stated during the post-match press conference.
