Silver prices surged on Friday, surpassing the landmark ₹2 lakh per kilogram in futures trading for the first time, bolstered by robust investor interest and favorable global cues. The futures for March delivery increased by ₹1,420, or 0.71%, reaching a record high of ₹2,00,362 per kg on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), marking a consistent rise for four consecutive days.
In international markets, Comex silver futures also achieved new heights, climbing to $64.74 per ounce. The significant demand for silver and the ongoing positive trends worldwide contributed to this historic milestone.
