Navi Mumbai: India opener Shafali Verma delivered an impressive performance today at the DY Patil Stadium, scoring 87 runs off 78 balls and playing a crucial role in India’s World Cup final against South Africa. With this innings, she made history by becoming the Indian player with the highest individual score in a World Cup final, surpassing Punam Raut’s previous record of 86 runs set during the 2017 final against England at Lord’s.
Shafali achieved this milestone before being dismissed by Ayabonga Khaka while attempting to accelerate the scoring.
