Sensex and Nifty 50 Steady as Adani and M&M Shine

BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 staged volatility after scaling to record highs in the previous trading session.

Sensex inched up 60.80 pts or 0.07 per cent to 85,781.18 after moderating between 85,577.82-85,969.89. Nifty 50 was up by 2.25 pts or 0.01 per cent to 26,217.80 after scaling to an intraday high of 26,280.75.B

Sensex and Nifty scaled to record highs in the previous trading session at 86055.86 and 26,310.45, respectively.

Both midcap and smallcap indices dipped to trade in red. Sectoral performance was mixed. Metal, Auto, Chemicals, Media and Pharma topped the list, trading with modest gains, while oil & gas, realty and consumer durables dipped the most.

Top gainers & losers intraday

Shares of Adani Enterprises, M&M, Adani Ports, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharma led the gainers of Nifty 50, while HDFC Life, SBI Life, Shriram Finance, Power Grid and Bharat Electronics depreciated the most.

Market breadth was mixed, with 3,049 stocks traded on the National Stock Exchange at 1.08 pm. About 1,420 advanced, 1,526 declined, and 103 stocks remained unchanged. A total of 58 stocks hit 52-week highs, whereas 83 slipped to 52-week lows. In addition, 64 stocks hit the upper circuit, and 30 hit the lower circuit.

Under the midcap segment, SRF, Paytm, IGL, Kalyan Jewellers, Motilal OFS soared 2-3 per cent, while Voltas, Waaree Energies, Ashok Leyland, MFSL and Swiggy declined 2 per cent.

Smallcap stocks Poonawalla, BLS, Laurus Labs, Radico and Neuland increased 2-3 per cent, while MCX, CreditAccess, Angel One and Gland Pharma fell over 2-4 per cent.
