Bajaj has expanded its electric scooter portfolio in India with the introduction of the new Chetak C2501 model. As the entry-level variant of the Chetak series, the C2501 is designed to be lighter and more affordable than its counterparts, targeting urban commuters with a lower top speed and reduced range.
The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is equipped with a floorboard-mounted 2.5kWh battery that provides a claimed range of 113 kilometers on a full charge. An off-board charger rated at 750W is included, taking about 3 hours and 45 minutes to completely recharge the battery. This model is distinct from higher-end variants, featuring a hub-mounted motor that produces 1.8kW of continuous power and peaks at 2.2kW. The scooter’s speed is limited to 55 kilometers per hour, emphasizing its suitability for city navigation.
In terms of design, the C2501 retains the signature Chetak silhouette and incorporates a telescopic fork at the front and a twin-shock absorber assembly at the rear. It also includes a front disc brake for added safety. The seat height is set at a low 763 mm, and the scooter boasts a lightweight kerb weight of just 108 kg. Notable design elements include:
- A round LED headlight with integrated turn indicators.
- An upswept rear panel featuring a new single tail-lamp design that houses rear indicators.
- Sleek black plastic mirrors for a contemporary appearance.
Despite being an entry-level model, the C2501 is equipped with several smart features. It includes an LCD screen with Bluetooth connectivity for call notifications and music playback control. Other key features include:
- Hill-hold assist and a reverse function.
- Two riding modes: Eco and Sport.
- A built-in USB charging port.
- A front apron cubby for small items.
- A spacious under-seat storage area with a capacity of 25 liters.
The Bajaj Chetak C2501 is offered in six vibrant color options: Green, White, Black, Grey, Red, and Yellow, with a starting price of Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom).
