The value of private investments in October stood at $5.17 billion across 106 deals as against $2.61 billion investments across 96 deals in October of 2024.

Interestingly, this was the highest value of PE-VC investments secured in a single month, across the last 2 years.

Mega deals accounted for $3.88 billion invested across 10 deals, a 167 per cent increase from the $1.45 billion invested across 6 such deals in the same month last year. Some of these deals included the $1 billion bagged by Housing Finance firm Sammaan Capital, the $600 million secured by payments major PhonePE and the $450 pouched by quick commerce platform Zepto.

“Mega deals this year have been led by investments in IT & ITeS, BFSI, Manufacturing and Healthcare. The month of October saw an unusual surge in mega deals led by Financial Services and Fintech companies,” said Arun Natarajan, Founder of Venture Intelligence.

The month also saw a significant increase in the number of early-stage deals — institutional investments in companies that are less than 5 years old- with $429 million invested across 53 deals compared to $174 million across 39 deals in October 2024).

“Early Stage investments, especially in the seed stage, are making a good recovery this year on the back of interest in sectors like AI/ML & Deeptech, B2B software, E-Commerce & D2C, Healthtech and Fintech”, Natarajan said.

He added that it however, remains to be seen how many of these newly funded startups will be successful in raising the follow-on Series A rounds (in 18-24 months), where the action is still muted.

Growth-stage investments (companies that are 5-10 years old) went up to $1086 million invested across 28 deals while late-stage deals (companies that are over 10 years old) went up to $1.4 billion invested across 18 deals.

Interestingly, investors are also making bigger bets with the average PE-VC deal size in the month across all three stages going up on a year-on-year basis.

2025 YTD still lags the activity last year, as total investments across PE-VC deals in 2025 (January–October) to $26.4 billion as compared to $32.9 billion for the whole of last year.
