Praful Hinge Makes IPL History with Debut Performance
New Delhi: Praful Hinge has set a remarkable milestone on his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL), as the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer dismantled the Rajasthan Royals (RR) batting order during a match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 13. Hinge achieved a unique record by claiming three wickets in the first over of RR’s chase of 217 runs.
Hinge struck first by dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck on the second ball of the innings. The RR batsman misjudged Hinge’s hard length delivery, top-edging an attempted pull shot. Hinge quickly added a second wicket, trapping Dhruv Jurel on the fourth delivery, with Jurel’s angled bat failing to connect adequately with the ball, resulting in another two-ball duck. Hinge completed his hat-trick by removing Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who flicked a delivery straight to deep backward square leg, also departing for a two-ball duck. As a result, Hinge has become the first-ever player in IPL history to take three wickets in the first over of a match.
Hinge’s impressive debut continued as he claimed the wicket of RR captain Riyan Parag in his second over. Parag, poking at a fuller delivery that moved away, was caught at slips. This left the Rajasthan Royals in dire straits at 9 for 5 after Sakibul Hussain dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal.
