Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced a significant disbursement of over ₹5,000 crore for approximately 1.18 crore women beneficiaries under the state’s flagship Subhadra Yojana, coinciding with International Women’s Day.

The second installment of this initiative was rolled out during a special ceremony held in Ambapua, Berhampur city. Each of the 1.18 crore women beneficiaries received ₹5,000, complementing the earlier release of the same amount in five phases over the past seven months.

The Subhadra Yojana was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday, September 17, 2024, in Odisha. Earlier this week, the government also allocated ₹117 crore to 2.30 lakh new participants as part of the fifth phase of the first installment.

Eligible beneficiaries, women aged between 21 and 60 years, are set to receive a total of ₹50,000 over five years (from 2024-25 to 2028-29) aimed at promoting their financial independence and self-reliance. The state government has earmarked over ₹55,825 crore for the scheme over the five-year period and has already assigned ₹10,145 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The third installment of the Subhadra Yojana is expected to be directly credited to the beneficiaries around the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival.
