NTA introduces changes in JEE Main 2025 engineering exam pattern

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently announced some significant changes to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) for engineering courses. Starting from the upcoming year, the optional question format in Section B will no longer be available, as it was initially introduced as a temporary measure during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.

Previously, candidates were allowed to choose any five questions out of a total of 10 in Section B. However, the exam pattern will now revert to its original format, where candidates must answer all five questions in this section without any options for selection in the JEE Main 2025 exam.

In addition to the changes in the exam pattern, NTA’s press release also mentioned that the application process for the first phase of JEE Main 2025 will begin soon, with details available on their official website. Aspiring candidates are advised to regularly visit the NTA website for updates on the examination pattern.

The JEE Main 2025 exam will consist of three sections – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a total of 90 questions (30 in each section) and a total of 300 marks. Section A will have 20 multiple-choice questions per subject, while Section B will now have five mandatory numerical questions per subject. It is important to note that there is a negative marking for incorrect answers, with one mark deducted for each wrong answer, while each correct answer will earn four marks.
