MSI, a leading provider of AI PCs and gaming solutions, has recently announced a strategic partnership with Syrma SGS Technology Limited to manufacture laptops in India. This move is part of MSI’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the Indian market and align with the government’s Make in India initiative.

Syrma SGS, a PLI-approved IT hardware manufacturer, will be responsible for assembling the laptops at their Chennai facility. The collaboration is expected to leverage MSI’s technology transfer and best practices to establish a state-of-the-art production line. This initiative not only aims to boost local manufacturing but also enhance India’s position as a hub for global laptop production.

MSI’s decision to partner with Syrma SGS underscores the company’s commitment to catering to the growing demand for high-quality laptops in India. By manufacturing locally, MSI can offer products that are not only competitive in terms of pricing but also tailored to the specific needs of Indian consumers.

John Hung, MSI India NB General Manager, emphasized the significance of India as a key market and the importance of producing globally competitive products locally. On the other hand, Satendra Singh, CEO of Syrma SGS, expressed his enthusiasm for expanding the company’s IT hardware manufacturing portfolio through this collaboration.

With over four decades of experience in IT hardware manufacturing, Syrma SGS brings a wealth of expertise to the partnership. The company’s diverse portfolio includes memory, SSDs, motherboards, power adapters, and systems integration. In the last financial year, Syrma SGS reported consolidated revenue of approximately INR 3,212 Crores and served over 270 customers across 20+ countries.

The collaboration between MSI and Syrma SGS comes at a time when the Indian government is actively promoting domestic laptop manufacturing through policy support. By attracting global manufacturers like MSI to set up operations in India, the government aims to boost local production and reduce dependency on imports.

Overall, the partnership between MSI and Syrma SGS represents a significant step towards strengthening India’s position in the global laptop manufacturing landscape. As both companies bring their expertise and resources to the table, Indian consumers can look forward to a wider range of high-quality, locally manufactured laptops in the near future.
