Jeffrey Epstein reportedly sought to arrange a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Trump strategist Steve Bannon in 2019, just weeks before his arrest, according to documents released by the U.S. House Oversight Committee and a collection of 18,000 emails obtained by Drop Site News.

In these communications, Epstein emphasized the strategic importance of such a meeting, encouraging Bannon with the message, “you should meet with Modi,” and later indicating that “Modi on board.”

On the day Modi secured re-election, Bannon informed Epstein of his plans for a one-hour show discussing Modi. Epstein replied that Modi’s focus was on countering China. Subsequently, Bannon appeared on Indian television to address the geopolitical significance of the U.S.-India relationship. Epstein continued to advocate for the meeting, suggesting that they were missing a significant opportunity and quipping, “look at your underwear, it either says made in China or made in India.”

Recent years have seen a shift in India’s foreign policy, as the country has strengthened its connections with Israel, particularly in security and trade. This has included multibillion-dollar agreements for arms, making India one of Israel’s most critical partners outside the West.

Documents show that Epstein had scheduled several appointments from 2014 to 2017 with Hardeep Singh Puri, a senior leader in Modi’s party, despite Epstein’s prior convictions. At that time, Puri was vice president of the International Peace Institute, which was linked to Epstein’s networks focused on security related to Israeli interests. Puri has since risen to become the head of India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Further investigations by Drop Site reveal that Epstein discussed Indo-Israeli coordination with Anil Ambani, an Indian billionaire whose company entered into significant defense contracts with Israel’s state-owned Rafael. In March 2017, Ambani sent Epstein an article on Modi’s planned U.S. visit, signing it “BR, Anil.” Epstein noted that the visit was “part of Israel strategy,” indicating a deeper geopolitical dynamic.

Epstein’s correspondence has drawn attention to his broader efforts to facilitate deals involving figures related to Israeli intelligence networks. His interactions with Indian business leaders date back to 2006, with attempts to acquire interests in Dubai and attract investments in India’s luxury market.

An email resurfaced this week in which Epstein mentioned “girls? careful I will renew an old habit,” eliciting a reaction in India due to Puri’s name appearing in the thread. However, Drop Site clarified that the comment was out of context and unrelated to any accusations. A senior BJP leader publicly stated that there was “no reference whatsoever to anyone being supplied with girls.”

Epstein died in a Manhattan jail in August of that year. Shortly thereafter, Modi shared the stage with Donald Trump at the Houston “Howdy Modi” rally, making a statement that was interpreted by some as an attempt to sway the U.S. election. Modi’s office has not responded to inquiries from Drop Site News.

A recent report from the Centre for Financial Accountability (CFA) highlights that Indian corporations and state-owned enterprises have been significantly involved in sustaining Israel’s wartime economy amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
