Australia and England are preparing to continue their ongoing Ashes 2025-26 series with the third Test match scheduled at the Adelaide Oval, commencing on December 17. Following victories in the first two Tests, Australia aims to secure another win.
Ahead of this matchup, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is poised to surpass legendary former England pacer James Anderson in the all-time Ashes wicket-taking ranks. Starc, having played 24 Tests in the Ashes, has claimed 115 wickets, while Anderson, with 39 Tests in the series, secured 117 wickets throughout his career. Recognized as one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history, Anderson’s impressive career has cemented his legacy. Starc eclipsing his record would signify a significant milestone in the Australian pacer’s career.
Currently, Starc is positioned ninth in the list of players with the most Ashes wickets, while Anderson is in eighth place.
In anticipation of the third Test, Cricket Australia has announced the playing XI for the match. Captain Pat Cummins is making his return to the lineup alongside Nathan Lyon. However, veteran batsman Usman Khawaja has been omitted, as Australia maintains the opening pair of Travis Head and Jake Weatherald. With a 2-0 lead in the series, Australia is aiming for a decisive third victory against England.
