New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, as part of a multi-format series that also includes five T20 Internationals and three Test matches. The ODIs are scheduled to take place on November 16, 19, and 22 in Christchurch, Napier, and Hamilton, respectively.
Mitchell Santner will lead the Black Caps in the ODI series, which features notable players including Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, and Devon Conway. A significant return to the squad is fast bowler Matt Henry, who had missed the previous two ODIs against England due to a calf strain. Henry is currently in rehabilitation and is preparing for the series ahead.
In a statement following the squad announcement, New Zealand’s head coach Rob Walter expressed his satisfaction with Henry’s return, emphasizing his importance as a senior leader within the pace attack. “Matt is a vital member of this group and the senior leader of our pace attack, so it’ll be great to have him back around the group for the ODIs and Tests,” Walter said, as reported by Cricbuzz. He added, “He will be fresh and fit after a good rest, and we know he’ll be raring to go ahead of a big five weeks with the white and red ball.”
Walter also praised Blair Tickner’s performance against England, stating, “We couldn’t have asked for more from Ticks… his pace and bounce proved to be a big test for some of the best batters in the world.”
The New Zealand squad for the ODI series is as follows: Mitchell Santner (c), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham (wk), Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, and Will Young.
