New Delhi: Team India is poised to face South Africa in the first Test of their multi-format series, set to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata starting November 14. A key focus will be on Indian batter KL Rahul, who is expected to open the innings.
Rahul is nearing a significant milestone, with 3,985 runs accrued in 65 Test matches for India. He requires just 15 more runs to reach the 4,000-run mark, which would make him the 18th Indian player to achieve this feat in Test cricket.
The Indian team is currently in good form, having recently secured a T20I series win against Australia. They will aim to carry this momentum into the upcoming matches against South Africa. India’s last Test series was against the West Indies in early October, where they recorded comfortable victories in both matches under the leadership of Shubman Gill.
Nonetheless, the South African side, as defenders of the World Test Championship (WTC) title, will pose a significant challenge for India, seeking to deliver a competitive performance in the series.
