Israel Launches 93 Airstrikes in 24 Hours Despite Trump’s Call for Ceasefire

Gaza’s Government Media Office reported on Saturday that Israel conducted over 93 airstrikes within a 24-hour period, primarily targeting densely populated areas and shelters for displaced families. Among those killed, at least 47 fatalities were reported in Gaza City alone.

In this latest wave of strikes, at least 70 Palestinians—many of whom were women and children—lost their lives across the Gaza Strip, despite a call from U.S. President Donald Trump for a cessation of hostilities to facilitate his proposed plan for Gaza.

The statement from the Gaza authorities condemned Israel’s actions as “clear massacres,” labeling the strikes as part of a “genocidal war” against the Palestinian people. They noted that Israeli attacks continued even after Trump urged for an immediate ceasefire and indicated that Hamas was open to his proposal.

“The Israeli occupation continues its brutal aggression, disregarding all international calls for calm,” the statement asserted, urging the U.S. administration and the international community to take “serious, effective, and urgent action” to halt the violence.

As of October 2023, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 67,139 people and injuries to 169,583 individuals in Gaza.

An Israeli government spokesperson stated that there is currently no ceasefire in effect but rather a temporary pause in some of the bombardments. The spokesperson emphasized that military operations could continue in Gaza for defensive reasons.

This report was first published by Maktoob Media.
