The stage is set for a thrilling finale as India faces South Africa in the Women’s World Cup 2025 final, scheduled for Sunday, November 2, at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Both teams have secured their spots in the title match following impressive semifinal victories. India achieved a commanding win against Australia, while South Africa made history by defeating England to reach their first Women’s World Cup final.

For South Africa, this marks a significant milestone as they prepare for their inaugural appearance in a Women’s ODI World Cup final. In contrast, India will compete in their third final, aiming to secure the coveted trophy after previous runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2017. Despite facing three consecutive defeats to South Africa, Australia, and England, hopes have revived following India’s recent triumph over Australia in the semifinals, making them the favorites heading into the final.

However, concerns loom regarding the weather on match day. Forecasts indicate a 25% chance of rain on Sunday, which could lead to delays or interruptions. The likelihood of showers is predicted to remain around 20% until 8 p.m., raising the possibility of an impacted match. The ICC has prepared plans to ensure a fair outcome should inclement weather affect the final.

According to ICC playing conditions, a reserve day has been designated for Monday, November 3, to ensure the match concludes properly. Officials will first aim to complete the game on the scheduled date, even if it requires the reduction of overs. If play is halted due to rain after some overs have been bowled, the match will resume from that point on the reserve day. Should there be no play during interruptions, the contest will restart as a full 50-over match on the reserve day.

For a conclusive result, both teams must bat for a minimum of 20 overs each. If rain continues to cause disruptions and the reserve day is also unplayable, both India and South Africa will be declared joint winners and will share the trophy.
