Visakhapatnam: Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has showcased exceptional talent in the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa. Following back-to-back centuries in Ranchi and Raipur, Kohli continued his impressive form in the third ODI in Visakhapatnam, scoring an unbeaten 65 runs off 45 balls, leading India to a series victory with a final score of 2-1.
This performance has brought Kohli closer to breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs in ODI history. The 37-year-old has accumulated a total of 302 runs in the current series, now boasting an overall tally of 14,557 runs in ODIs. To surpass Tendulkar’s record, which stands at 18,426 runs from 463 matches, Kohli requires an additional 3,869 runs.
Given that India is slated to play nearly 45 ODIs in the upcoming period, including the 2027 ODI World Cup, the prospect of Kohli surpassing this legendary milestone, while challenging, remains a possibility, especially considering his current form.

In addition, Kohli reflected on his favorite inning from the series, naming his performance in Ranchi as particularly memorable. He noted that returning to the field after a break since the Australia series allowed him to hit the ball well, boosting his confidence.
“The first one at Ranchi was special because I hadn’t played a game since Australia. Just to come out and, you know, when you start hitting the ball well—your energy is on the day. You feel so confident about taking risks. When they come off, it unlocks that zone as a batsman you crave for. So, Ranchi was very special to me because it opened me up in a way that I haven’t felt for a while. I am just grateful for how these three games have gone,” Kohli stated during the post-match presentation.
