The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Jana Sena, and several supporting organizations have filed 18 cases in the High Court against the construction of houses in Amaravati’s R-5 Zone, claimed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on July 24. During a visit to Venkatapalem village to initiate the construction of 50,000 homes, Reddy stated that Amaravati is evolving into a capital for the people, accommodating a diverse demographic, including the poor.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s extensive efforts to acquire judicial permission for the allocation of house sites to underprivileged beneficiaries in Amaravati, characterizing the situation as a conflict between neo-capitalists and the marginalized. He accused TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu and his supporters of opposing the project aimed at constructing homes for the poor.

Reddy further noted that opposition parties had engaged with Union government ministers and secretaries to hinder the housing developments in the capital city. He expressed optimism that the court would ultimately support the state government’s position regarding the housing scheme.

According to Reddy, the launch of construction in Amaravati represents a significant victory for the government’s initiatives focused on the impoverished against neo-capitalist interests. He also pointed out the opposition’s resistance to implementing English as the medium of instruction in schools, while highlighting the state government’s commitment to effectively distributing welfare benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer systems.
