Dubbed the “world’s most portable pizza oven,” the Gozney Tread is a rugged, gas-powered marvel, perfect for adventurous cooks. It stands as the smallest member of the impressive Gozney lineup and is the second most budget-friendly model, trailing only the original Roccbox. This oven is part of a continually growing array of home pizza ovens that have revolutionized how we create authentic pizzas—from Neapolitan to Chicago-style, New York, and Sicilian—right in our own backyards.
With the Tread, Gozney encourages us to take our sourdough calzones on road trips. Measuring 16.5″ x 19.1″ x 12.6″, it is remarkably compact for a fully equipped pizza oven, and the two sizable handles enhance mobility, making it easier and neater to transport than many others. Its gas-only configuration can reach a scorching 932 degrees Fahrenheit (500 degrees Celsius) and accommodates a 12-inch pizza.
Does it stand toe-to-toe with the finest pizza ovens on the market? And at 29.7 pounds, is it genuinely portable enough for travel? I spent several weeks load-testing my trunk and indulging in carbs to discover the answers.
Is it Truly Portable?
Despite the stunning promotional images of the Tread showcased in desert settings, mountains, and remote spots, it’s essential to mention that my review unit was delivered on a full-sized wooden pallet. While Gozney did provide a generous array of extras, the sheer volume of equipment was quite surprising for something proclaimed as not only portable but also the “world’s most portable pizza oven.”
