A recent visit to Aahar 2025 in Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam provided a glimpse into the latest trends in the food and beverage industry. With 80 participants from 22 countries, the fair showcased a wide array of products and innovations. From Australian macadamia nuts to Italian olive oil, there was plenty to see and explore.

One of the highlights of the fair was the focus on beverages, with Tata Consumer Products presenting Tetley Kombucha in various flavors. While there were no groundbreaking innovations like at Gulfoods in Dubai, there were still some interesting products to discover, such as a unique Australian product for individuals with swallowing difficulties.

Here are some of the key trends observed at Aahar 2025:

1) Private labels on the rise: Many small and medium enterprises showcased their condiments, sauces, and oils, aiming to collaborate with retailers or brands for private labeling. The demand for private labels is expected to grow significantly in the future.

2) Fusion products gaining popularity: The trend of fusion foods was evident at the fair, with small businesses experimenting with unique combinations like heeng badam and blueberry-flavored cashews. Companies like Fruit Treat by Karanth’s foods from Sringeri, Karnataka, introduced crispy bhindi treats and sweet potato chips.

3) Plant-based foods on the rise: The fair featured a growing number of plant-based food options, reflecting the increasing demand for vegan products in the market. Brands like OMG from Australia showcased oat milk products, catering to the needs of flexitarians in India.

4) Frozen foods gaining traction: The frozen foods segment, traditionally stagnant, is seeing a revival with the rising popularity of air-fryers and quick commerce. Companies like Amul featured a variety of frozen snacks and sweets at the fair.

5) Emerging niches: A notable offering at the fair was Wholesome Blends, a brand founded by Sarah Thomas, catering to individuals who require enteral feeding. The product, designed as a healthier alternative to commercial formulas, is set to enter the Indian market soon.

Overall, Aahar 2025 offered a sneak peek into the future of the global F&B industry, highlighting innovative products and growing trends that are shaping the market.
