The authorities at Kolkata airport have decided to halt flight operations in anticipation of severe cyclone Dana. The suspension will be in effect from 6 pm on Thursday until 9 am on Friday due to expected heavy winds and rainfall.

In response to the potential impact of cyclone Dana on the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal, the Ministry of Railways conducted a high-level meeting to review preparedness. The meeting, chaired by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized the importance of minimal disruption and inconvenience to passengers.

As a proactive measure, the Railways will establish nine dedicated war rooms manned by various officers to make prompt decisions and ensure quick restoration of services in case of any cyclone-related incidents. The Railways is in constant communication with the India Meteorological Department for updates and resource mobilization.

Specialized teams are ready for rapid restoration of tracks, signaling systems, and electrification at key locations. Over 600 staff members are deployed at strategic points with necessary equipment and materials on standby to address any emergencies that may arise.
