A senior official from the Union Ministry of Finance tragically lost his life, while three others, including his wife, sustained injuries after a BMW reportedly collided with his motorcycle near the Delhi Cantonment metro station on the Ring Road.

The deceased was identified as Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, residing in Hari Nagar, as reported by police officials.

Authorities received multiple emergency calls in the afternoon about traffic congestion near metro pillar number 67 along the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt stretch. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a BMW overturned on the road and a motorcycle positioned near the divider.

Witness statements indicated that a woman was behind the wheel of the BMW when it struck the motorcycle from the rear. Singh was operating the motorcycle, with his wife riding as a passenger. They were transported to a hospital by the car’s driver and her husband, who accompanied her.

Unfortunately, the hospital later reported that Singh succumbed to his injuries, while his wife remained in treatment. Reports suggest that they were taken to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar, approximately 17 kilometers from the accident site, instead of a closer medical facility.

The driver of the BMW and her husband also suffered injuries and are currently hospitalized, with their statements pending. Both are residents of Gurugram.

The involved BMW and motorcycle have been confiscated by police. The accident scene was examined by a forensic team, and an investigation is underway to determine the events leading up to the collision.

Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted but has since resumed after the removal of the damaged vehicles.

The case is being formally documented, and police are actively working to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
