Final Showdown: NZ-W vs SA-W Head-to-Head History in Women’s T20 World Cup

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final is set to feature a thrilling showdown between South Africa and New Zealand. Both teams have showcased exceptional skills throughout the tournament and will battle it out for the ultimate prize at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

South Africa secured their spot in the finals by defeating defending champions Australia in the semi-finals. Led by captain Laura Wolvaardt, the Proteas have shown great determination and skill on the field. Wolvaardt, who is also the leading run-scorer in the tournament, has been exceptional with the bat, scoring 190 runs at an average of 47.50. Her opening partner Tazmin Brits has also been in fine form, contributing 170 runs to the team’s total.

On the bowling front, Nonkululeko Mlaba has been a standout performer for South Africa, picking up 10 wickets in the tournament so far. New Zealand, on the other hand, booked their place in the final by defeating West Indies in the semi-finals. All-rounder Amelia Kerr has been the key player for the White Ferns, taking 12 wickets in five games. Georgia Plimmer has been the top-scorer for the team, accumulating 141 runs in the tournament.

In head-to-head T20I encounters, New Zealand has had the upper hand against South Africa, winning 11 out of the 16 matches played between the two teams.

Both teams have announced their squads for the final, with captains Wolvaardt and Sophie Devine leading South Africa and New Zealand respectively.

It promises to be an exciting final showdown between two powerhouse teams in women’s cricket.
