The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) has collaborated with FICCI-FLO Chennai to set up childcare facilities in 17 industrial parks across Tamil Nadu. This initiative, as announced by Industries Minister TRB Rajaa via social media, aims to support the 3.23 lakh employees working in these SIPCOT parks, particularly enabling working mothers to better balance their personal and professional responsibilities.
In Tamil Nadu, nearly 43 percent of the workforce in factories comprises women. This new initiative seeks to alleviate the domestic burdens faced by these working women. The Minister emphasized that promoting welfare is essential to industrial growth, stating, “By empowering our women, we reinforce not only the industries but also the very fabric of our society.”
