A leader from the Aam Aadmi Party acknowledged on Saturday that he failed to meet three key commitments – the cleanup of the Yamuna river, providing access to clean drinking water, and upgrading Delhi’s roads to European standards.

He stated that these objectives would be realized in the next five years if the AAP is re-elected in the upcoming assembly elections. While addressing an audience in Laxmi Bai Nagar, Kejriwal reminded the public of his promises and reassured them that the AAP government is actively working to fulfill them.

“I am honest regarding my commitments. I either accomplish them or acknowledge that I promised but could not deliver. I failed to meet three promises – first, the cleanup of the Yamuna, second, the provision of clean drinking water, and third, enhancing the quality of Delhi’s roads to match European standards.

Kejriwal expressed confidence that the cleanup of the Yamuna will be achieved in the next two to three years.

“Several measures have been undertaken… The Yamuna will be cleansed within two to three years. We have initiated a 24-hour drinking water supply in a colony of Rajendra Nagar. I inaugurated this service… We will extend it to all regions of Delhi. Additionally, we will upgrade the quality of the roads. All three objectives will be achieved in the next five years,” he declared.

Kejriwal highlighted the AAP government’s efforts to enhance educational facilities and the power supply situation.

“In the summer of 2014, power outages lasted up to 10 hours. We have ensured that Delhi receives uninterrupted electricity for 24 hours. The BJP governs in 20 states yet they fail to provide 24-hour electricity. Delhi also boasts the lowest electricity rates,” Kejriwal asserted.

“We have delivered quality education to students. Previous administrations overlooked government schools. We have constructed remarkable government educational institutions. Last year, government schools achieved a 99.7 percent pass rate, while private schools had a 92 percent result. I believe there is no greater act of patriotism than offering free and quality education,” he affirmed.

I could not fulfill three promises – first cleaning the Yamuna, second, providing clean drinking water and third making Delhi’s roads of European standards.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with votes to be counted on February 8.
