Adelaide: Chris Lynn Extends Contract with Adelaide Strikers for Upcoming BBL Season
In a significant development for the Big Bash League (BBL), Chris Lynn, the league’s highest run-scorer and prominent Australian batter, has signed a one-year contract extension with the Adelaide Strikers ahead of the forthcoming season. The 35-year-old is set to be available for the entirety of the tournament, marking his fourth consecutive season with the Strikers.
The Adelaide Strikers are entering this season following an underwhelming performance last year, where they finished last for the first time in the league’s history. With Lynn’s extension, the team aims to rebound and significantly improve its standings this year.
Lynn previously had limited availability in his first two BBL seasons because of commitments in the UAE. Although he made himself available for the full 2024 season, he was forced to withdraw due to a hamstring injury.
Following the signing of his contract extension, Lynn expressed enthusiasm about playing a full season. He highlighted the potential of the current squad and his eagerness to progress deeper into the tournament. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Adelaide Oval and helping the team go deep into finals this year. We’ve got an exciting squad this season and I can’t wait to see what we can produce when we take to the field,” Lynn stated, as reported by cricket.com.au.
Tim Paine, a fellow Strikers player, praised Lynn as an invaluable asset to the team’s ambitions. “We’re thrilled to have Chris returning to the Strikers as we strive for a deep finals campaign. While his batting exploits speak for themselves, his experience and leadership are equally invaluable to our emerging players within the squad,” Paine remarked.
