New Delhi: Australia opener Chris Lynn has made history by becoming the first player to achieve 4,000 runs in the Big Bash League (BBL). Lynn reached this milestone during the Adelaide Strikers’ match against Brisbane Heat on December 31.

In a chase of just 122 runs, Lynn scored an unbeaten 79 runs off 49 balls, which included six fours and six sixes, boasting a strike rate of 192.68. The 35-year-old needed 65 runs to reach the milestone and accomplished it emphatically through his powerful performance.

  1. Chris Lynn: 4,065 runs in 129 innings
  2. Aaron Finch: 3,311 runs in 105 innings
  3. Glenn Maxwell: 3,282 runs in 115 innings
  4. Moises Henriques: 3,188 runs in 137 innings
  5. D’Arcy Short: 3,138 runs in 102 innings

In addition, the Adelaide Strikers registered their first New Year’s Eve victory since 2018, breaking a streak of losses in this specific fixture from 2019 onwards, including several closely contested matches in the subsequent seasons.

In the match, England’s Jamie Overton, Pakistan’s Hasan Ali, and untested Australian pacer Liam Scott each delivered standout performances with the ball, combining for seven wickets and limiting the Heat to just 122 runs. Scott was named Player of the Match for his impressive figures of 2/12 in four overs.
